Every year it's the same story: vacations get planned months in advance — flights, hotel, itinerary — and the pet's care gets left for the final week. The result is panicked calls looking for a spot when there's no space left. At Madagascar Pet Hotel we've watched this pattern in Aguascalientes for over 30 years, so we put together this guide to make your dog or cat's boarding the first thing you solve, not the last.

How far in advance should you book for the holidays?

For holiday periods, book at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance; for regular dates, 3 to 7 days is enough. Our capacity is limited by design: every pet stays in a private suite, not in shared kennels — so when the suites are full, they're full.

Last-minute bookings are accepted only when space is available, which during December or Easter week is rare. Reserving costs you nothing extra and locks in the spot: you can do it online or via WhatsApp in two minutes.

Which seasons fill up first in Aguascalientes?

December and Easter week (Semana Santa) sell out fastest, followed by summer and long weekends. Use this table as a reference to plan your year:

SeasonTime of yearRecommended lead time
Semana Santa / EasterMarch–April3–4 weeks
SummerJuly–August2–3 weeks
Long weekendsVaries2 weeks
Christmas and New YearMid-December–January4 weeks
Regular datesRest of the year3–7 days

One detail many people forget: veterinary clinics get just as busy during these periods. If your pet is missing a vaccine or deworming, schedule it early — not the week of your trip.

What checklist should you follow before going on vacation?

The golden rule: handle vaccines and the reservation a month ahead, and leave only the packing for the end. This is the checklist we recommend to our clients:

4 weeks before:

  • Book the boarding stay (in high season, this is the critical step).
  • Check the vaccination booklet: rabies, the combination/DHPP vaccine, and Bordetella for dogs; FVRCP for cats.
  • Schedule any pending vaccines with your vet.

2 weeks before:

  • Confirm internal and external deworming is current (applied within the last 3 months).
  • If your pet has never boarded, consider a trial day at daycare so the place becomes familiar.
  • If you need transport, get a quote for our door-to-door TaxiPet service.

1 week before:

  • Confirm medications and ask your vet for written dosing instructions.
  • Buy enough food: one portion per day of the stay, plus one extra day.

1 day before:

  • Pack: food, medications, vaccination records (if it's a first visit), and a blanket or toy that smells like home.
  • Double-check your arrival time: check-in is at 2:00 PM, and public hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

What does a holiday boarding stay include?

Exactly the same as any other stay: a private cage-free suite from $286 MXN per night, with three meals, supervised walks, 24/7 veterinary supervision, and daily photos and videos via WhatsApp. We don't do "seasonal pricing": the rate is the same in December as on any random Tuesday in October.

Two promotions are running: 2×1, where boarding two pets together for 14+ days means the lower-rate pet stays free; and pay 15 days, get 30, with credit valid for 12 months and splittable across several stays. We also offer discounts for multiple pets, extended stays and advance bookings — contact us for your quote.

How do you know your pet is okay while you travel?

Every day of the stay, you receive photos and videos of your pet via WhatsApp — no need to ask. It's been our policy for years: the owner's peace of mind is part of the service, not an add-on.

Beyond the daily report, there are clear protocols for the unexpected:

  • For any medical situation, we contact you immediately, before applying any treatment beyond basic first aid.
  • At check-in you receive a dedicated emergency line so you can reach us outside public hours.
  • If your pet ever needed specialist care, we coordinate transport to a partnering veterinary clinic and keep you informed at every step.
  • At pick-up, staff hands you a summary of how your pet's health was throughout the stay.

So even if you're on a beach or in another country, you never lose sight of how your pet is doing.

What if you urgently need a spot at the last minute?

Message us on WhatsApp right away: last-minute bookings are accepted whenever there's space, and with two locations in Aguascalientes — Colonia Héroes in the north and Jardines del Sol in the south — sometimes one site has room when the other is full.

One thing doesn't bend, though, no matter the rush: current deworming is mandatory and vaccines must be up to date. If your pet doesn't have them, no reputable hotel can take them in — for the safety of every guest.

Your vacation starts when you know they're in good hands

The difference between a relaxed vacation and a guilty one is knowing exactly who is caring for your pet and how. With daily photo and video updates, constant veterinary supervision, and 30 years of experience, our job is to make sure you enjoy your trip as much as your pet enjoys theirs.

Don't leave it for the final week: book online or message us on WhatsApp at +52 449 448 5486 and secure your pet's spot for the next holidays today.
